WooCommerce – How to Create Product Catalogs by Country

If one day your client asks you to create two different product catalogs for two different countries, you can get into trouble if you have no tool at all to help you restrict your products in some selected countries.

Fortunately, we have a great, easy-to-use plugin for you to do that. We’re talking about the Country Catalogs for WooCommerce plugin. It helps you decide whether your products appear or not in selected countries. You can hide products, prices, categories, etc.

After you install and activate the plugin, you need to open it by going to WooCommerce > Advanced Country Restrictions.

Now you’ll have these two options

OPTION 1 – Hide Complete Categories

In this case, we’ll first edit our store to show a country selector so that we can then apply the different catalogs to those countries. Therefore, you need to click on Open global settings.

After opening the global settings, you need to use the following fields and values:

• Geolocation method: Show country/state selector in the header
• Restriction method: Hide product from the catalog
• Restrict by: Country and continents
• Country selector options: “El Salvador” and “United States” (For example)
• Click on Save changes

Now move to the Header selector tab and select the following values:

• Dropdown selector options: Select the countries where you’ll show a different catalog. In this example, we’ll select El Salvador and United States.
• Dropdown selector: Default country/state: Here you can select any of the countries you entered in the dropdown selector options.
• Click on Save changes.

In this example, we’ll work with two categories entitled “My category 1” and “My category 2”.

We’ll hide “My Category 1” in El Salvador and “My category 2” in the USA.

a) Hide a product category in El Salvador

First, we’ll hide a product category from El Salvador so that customers from that country don’t see the products belonging to it.

For this, you need to go to the product categories section in wp-admin and open a category to edit it. Go to Products > Categories.

Once you open the category, you need to scroll down to the Country Restrictions fields and set these values:

• Select countries: El Salvador
• Available in selected countries:No
• Apply this edit to:Products and categories.
• Click on Update.

Now, the products and category hidden won’t appear anymore in the country selected when someone visits your WooCommerce store.

b) Hide a product category in USA

The second thing to do is to hide “My category 2” from the USA.

For that, you need to go to the product categories and open a category to edit it. Go to Products > Categories.

Once you open the category, you need to scroll down to the Country Restrictions section and set these values:

• Select countries:United States
• Available in selected countries:No
• Apply this edit to:Products and categories.
• Click on Update.

After that, somebody visiting your store from USA won’t see the hidden category.

OPTION 2 – Hide Individual Products

If you want to hide individual products for specific countries to create different catalogs, then you need to follow these simple steps.

a) Open the product you’ll hide for a specific country

You need to go to Products and open a specific product to hide it in a specific country or in several countries.

b) Edit your selected product’s country restrictions

Now that you’ve opened the product, you need to edit its country restrictions. For that, go to the Country restrictions section and select these values:

• Selected countries: Select the country or countries where you want to hide your product.
• Available in selected countries: No
• Click on Update to save changes

If for example you hid the product from El Salvador, users from the US should not have any problem seeing the product.

On the contrary, customers from El Salvador won’t be able to see the hidden product.
