Hey there! 🙂 In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to restrict posts by donations total in GiveWP. For example, you can grant access to your posts to users who have donated $100 or $1000. Besides, you’ll see how to restrict an entire post category for all users with a specific donation total.
We’ll use the WordPress Conditional Post Restrictions plugin, which allows you to apply conditional restrictions to your WordPress posts and pages, as well as any other custom post types generated by plugins like GiveWP.
For example, regarding the GiveWPÂ plugin, you can apply any of these restrictions:
- User donations count: How many times the user has donated.
- User donations amount: How much money the user has donated.
- User has donated for form: Select a specific donation form as a requirement to access your content (posts, files, pages, etc.)
To restrict posts to users with a specific donation total, you need to follow some simple steps:
1- Install the ‘WordPress Conditional Post Restrictions’ plugin
You can download the plugin here:

After installing and activating the plugin, you can proceed to edit your post restrictions using the user donation total as a restriction parameter.
2- Restrict individual posts by donations total
To restrict individual posts to users with a specific donation total, go to Posts, and open the first post you want to edit.
Once you open it, scroll down to go to the Restriction rules section, and select these values:
- Enable content restrictions? Yes
- What happens when the conditions are met? Allow access (only to the users who meet the condition)
- Condition 1: User donations amount | = | 1000
- Important: You decide the donation amount, we’ve entered 1000 as an example.
- Finally, update the post to save the changes.
Once you’ve applied that change to this post, you need to repeat this same change for all the posts you want to restrict.
3- Restrict an entire category to users with a specific donation amount
You can create an entire category of posts and restrict it to grant access to users with a specific donation amount only.
For that, you need to edit the category, so go to Posts > Categories and open the category you want to edit:
- Enable conditional restrictions? Yes
- Apply restrictions to: Category and Posts
- What happens when the conditions are met? Allow access
- Condition 1: User donations amount | = | 1000
- Important: You decide the donation amount, we’ve entered 1000 as an example.
- Finally, update the category to save the changes.
Done. With this simple change, you’ll have restricted your posts to users with a specific donation
Important: What happens when users try to access a restricted post?
WordPress Conditional Post Restrictions allows you to decide what happens when users try to access a post that is restricted for them because they haven’t reached the minimum donation total required for the post.
- Go to Settings > Post Restrictions.
You’ll see what the plugin will do when your WordPress posts and categories are restricted.
That was really simple!
With these simple steps, you’ll be able to restrict posts to grant access to users with a specific donation total only. It’s really simple because you don’t have to program anything.
